As we approach the end of the college admissions cycle, I compiled a short checklist for each of your essays. Make sure that your essay meets these criteria!

• Addresses prompt

• Is there any way the reader reacts negatively?

• Personal

Flow

• Organized and easy to read

• Is there anywhere you need to restructure/reorder?

• Enough supporting details

• Enough reflection

Learn

• Do they learn something about the author?

• Emotions and mindset is shared

• Know yourself better

• Could they predict your reaction based on your essay?

Writing Technique

• Compelling intro

• Written well

• Advanced writing style

• Feel forced

• Grammar errors
